Scots Guards Colonel's Fund Dinner
On Tuesday, September 22nd, several members of the SAS joined hundreds of others aboard the newly restored Aircraft Carrier Intrepid to partake in the Scots Guards Colonel’s Fund Dinner. The predicted forecast of rain was incorrect allowing this to be a truly grand affair. The evening began with cocktails and a silent auction followed by an exciting performance of the Scot Guards Pipe and Drums. They march and played in perfect order on the flight deck…..much to the enjoyment of all including HRH The Duke of Kent as well as many other US and UK Diplomats and dignitaries. The members of the SAS were all in fine formal Highland gear with Duncan Bruce and Kitty Ockenden making us all proud as they were among those seated with the Duke and his party. Many spokesmen moved us with speeches of US and UK troops in Iraq and Afghanistan fighting so we may be kept safe. A night long to be remembered…..
