The National Council for Women is proud to present fellow Scot, Ann Gloag, with the inaugural Susan B. Anthony Humanitarian Award for her dedication and vision in making a difference in people's lives within her own community and across the globe.
Ann Gloag is co-founder of the Stagecoach transport empire and served as an executive director until May 2000. A contribution to the wider community has been part of the company’s ethos since it was formed in 1980 and this outlook has also been the driving force in her life.

John Michie will be our honored speaker
for the evening and will respond to the
toast “The Land o’Cakes.”
John is a British television and film actor, best known for his role as DI Robbie Ross on the Scottish detective television series Taggart.
Most recently, he is known for being the host of the Scottish Television program Made in Scotland, for the Year of Homecoming 2009, which was filmed both in Scotland and in New York during Tartan Week.

Tickets are now on sale for the 2009 edition of "The Pipes of Christmas." The Celtic Christmas classic will celebrate its eleventh season with performances in New York and New Jersey this December. Two concerts are scheduled for 2PM and 8PM on Saturday, December 19 at Central Presbyterian Church located at 70 Maple Street in Summit, NJ. The "Pipes" will also return to New York City on Sunday, December 20 at the Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church, located at 921 Madison Avenue (at 73rd Street). The Manhattan concert begins at 2:30 PM.
The concert presents the music of Christmas accompanied by a selection of readings taken from Scripture and the Celtic literature of Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. Featured performers include Andrew Weir from the film "Braveheart," the Scottish Country Dance trio Local Hero, the Solid Brass ensemble, Scottish harpist Jennifer Port, and the Kevin Ray Blandford Memorial Pipe Band of Redlands, CA.

General admission tickets for the NJ concert are $50. Tickets for the NYC concert are $60. Tickets for all performances are available via mail order. Premium VIP seats are available at both venues through membership in the "Friends of the Pipes of Christmas."
